Mark Harding Music
Bio

Mark Harding has been a professional performer for well over twenty years, and a teacher for ten. He is an honors graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston, a published composer, and has appeared on several CD's. Mark is comfortable in all styles of music on several instruments. His career has taken him into many and varied musical formats from the classical to the contemporary. He has a vast repertoire at his fingertips and an exceptionally broad and deep knowledge of music both traditional and modern.

Early Days

Starting out as a teenager with classical guitar study and performance in local rock bands as well as his father's jazz sextet in his native Devonshire, England, Mark spent several years as a successful traveling musician based in both London and Paris including touring work and performance at royal events, major festivals and clubs and a wide range of smaller venues before coming to the United States to study upright bass and composition at Berklee in 1995, also rapidly establishing himself as a teacher-performer in New England.

The Last Ten Years

In 1999, Mark came to Vermont to teach at the Long Trail School in Dorset, Where he was the full-time instrumental music director until 2006. Mark established a busy private guitar and bass lesson program while at Long Trail, and he has now decided to focus his teaching skills on private instruction to allow a little more time for the further development of his performance career and for his family. He is also an adjunct professor of bass at Castleton State College and teaches Guitar and intro to Rock'n'Roll at the Community College of Vermont

Since coming to Vermont, Mark has performed extensively in the area at venues including The Flynn and Paramount Theaters, the Dorset Playhouse, Solarfest, Briggs Opera House, Killington Grand Hotel, Hildene, and at many events both private and public. A highly active member of the local music community, Mark is a regular member of Gypsy Reel, the Marble City Swing Band , Moments Notice Trio and The Ace Leonard Quintet, and also performs frequently on both guitar and bass as a soloist or as a guest with a wide variety of the areas finest musicians including many local music educators. Mark currently performs at around 200 concerts and events each year.
